Pass legislation to restrict betting on referenda and general elections.
Shortly before the EU Referendum, bookmakers' odds for Remain were 1/4, while those for Leave were 5/1. Such odds have the potential to influence voting, irrespective of the political issues at stake. It is reported that 69 per cent of individual bets were placed on Leave.
