Make First Aid a compulsory requirement for the curriculum in all schools.
140,000 people could have potentially avoided death if they had first aid treatment from a trained first aider. The price to teach first aid in schools is negligible compared to the benefits. The pressure on the NHS would also be decreased if people can properly diagnose themselves. Saving A&E time.
Take a look at the statistics for Norway and the potential for saving someone who has gone into cardiac arrest is three times the percentage of England, this is because they have 90% of the population first aid trained unlike the UK who only have 10% of the population first aid trained. It could be an hour a month in schools and a life could be saved because of it, incorporate into the personal development subject.
