Stop the 12 Month Deferral Ban on Gay Men Donating Blood
In 2016, gay men are still unable to donate blood.
We are calling on the Government to end the 12 month deferral ban on gay men donating blood.
A recent report from Public Health England states that 'the impact of STIs remains greatest in young heterosexuals under the age of 25 years and in men who have sex
with men (MSM)'. If young heterosexuals under the age of 25 are still able to donate blood despite being in the same 'high risk category' as gay men, then we should be allowed to donate too. You can read the full report here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/534601/hpr2216_stis.pdf
