Call for the impeachment of Tony Blair
Impeachment is when a peer or commoner is accused of ‘high crimes and misdemeanours beyond the reach of the law, or which no other authority in the state will prosecute.’ It is a procedure that is directed in particular against "Ministers of the Crown", in order to ensure that they are accountable.
Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, might never have to face trial after the publication of the Chilcot report into the Iraq war, because he likely to committed a crime of aggression (a "crime against peace") rather than a war crime. 'Impeachment' offers an alternative legal instrument whereby he can be held accountable for those crimes of aggression.
