A full review of the staffing shortages within NHS district nursing service.
People prefer to recover at home. The district nursing service, with the reductions in staffing since 2003 is at breaking point. District nurses are now critically endangered health professionals says the royal college of nursing and 10,000 front line staff are required.
There has been large cuts to the district nursing service, senior nursing sisters who require the specialist practitioner degree have been reduced in numbers and in high demand with many jobs advertised for months waiting to be filled.
District nurses will dissappear by 2025.
Only 37% of time spent dealing with patients.
2003 - 2013 47% drop in staff from 12,620 to 6,656. Ref: Royal College of Nursing.
We want the government to debate this and commit to recruiting front line staff required.
