Petition Details

Ever since the american dentist shot and killed the protected lion Cecil in cold blood. So i think that killing animals for fun/sport is very wrong and because lots of animals are becoming extinct.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

Cecil the lion was not killed in the UK. The UK Government and Parliament don't have the power to change the law in other countries.

In addition, the law on hunting is devolved in Scotland and Northern Ireland. That means that the Scottish Parliament and the Northern Ireland Assembly are responsible for the law on hunting there.

We could accept a petition calling for all hunting to be banned in England and Wales.
