Public enquiry into lies propagated by Leave campaign given ££££ cost to UK/EU
Leave campaign has been shown to be based resoundingly on lies (see http://www.richardcorbett.org.uk/long-list-leave-lies/ for example). How can such a result be valid in that basis, especially given such utterly profound consequences.
Consequences are indeed profound
- £billions in direct and indirect costs, not yet properly set up to provide a balanced view
- potential break up of the U.K.
- alienated youth who are simply horrified by what we have done
- some of the poorest towns and cities in our nation, who most benefit from EU will differ those most, and generally they are the ones who voted Leave
- government had a responsibility to provide a balanced perspective, ensure facts were clear on the implications, and there was robust contingency planning. They like press and other politicians were swept away by shallow facts and emotions
- UK reputation diminished in World
