Petition Action

The BBC a public funded service must be unbiased. Show news not manufacture it.

Petition Details

Recently the BBC have been allowing political editors to make the news and not simply report it. There is clearly a conflict of interests between being a right wing journalist and political editor of the BBC. This should not happen and is not appropiate behaviour of a publicly funded organisation.

Additional Information

I believe that there should be a watchdog committee selected from the grass roots of each party based on votes cast at elections local and national. The committee should be free of proffessional politicians. All nominees selected by clp's then voted at party conferences. The committee has teeth a majority vote and should a jounalist or Editor allow a biased broadcast to be made without equal time to the opposite view in that broadcast then a reprimand be issued 3 reprimands automatic dismissal.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

At the moment, the BBC Trust is responsible for investigating breaches of the BBC Charter, which includes complaints about the impartiality of the BBC.

You can get in touch with the BBC Trust using the following website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/contact_us

If you would like there to be a specific change to the way in which the BBC is overseen, and complaints about impartiality are investigated, you could start a new petition explaining clearly how you would like this to work.
