Increase the standard size bottle of wine from 750ml to 1000ml (1 litre).
In this day and age it should be possible for responsible adults to purchase quality wine in larger sized bottles than just 750ml.
Very often that "extra glass" is needed and instead of it being in that bottle you have to open a second - the result: increased risk of alcohol related health issues.
This will go down a treat with everyone (plus the increased duty generated would be handy for the various initiatives that are being funded from the public purse).
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The 75cl standard size wine bottle in the UK is a matter of commercial practice, not law. It is already legal to sell 1 litre bottles of wine in the UK:
www.gov.uk/weights-measures-and-packaging-the-law/specified-quantities
Your petition is therefore not asking for something which the Government or Parliament is responsible for. Commercial practice is a matter for individual wine producers and their representative bodies.
If you would like weights and measures law to be changed, you could start a new petition about that. That is something the Government could do.
