Preserve civil liberties under European Citizenship for all UK EU nationals
Invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty starts the process of withdrawal from the EU. By withdrawing from the EU the UK threatens to take away civil rights from millions of UK and EU nationals who presently work and/or reside in member states pursuant to the freedoms protected under the Treaties.
Individual rights of European citizens are enshrined in the Treaties which include important freedoms such as the right to move and reside freely within the EU. By withdrawing from the EU the UK threatens to take away these rights. We ask the UK government to urgently seek reassurance from the EU that the civil rights presently enjoyed by UK and European nationals will be preserved and that parliament will recognize and uphold Article 12 enshrined in the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" .
