Make it a crime to make untrue or misleading statements in a political campaign.

Petition Details

During the recent referendum both sides relied heavily on regurgitated untrue "facts" and scaremongering. This fails to treat the electorate with the respect it deserves and allows real issues to be hidden behind smokescreens of lies. This would also apply to promises made and subsequently broken.
