Maintain rights of UK citizens to be EU citizens if UK ceases as a member of EU

Petition Details

European Treaties caused UK citizens to become EU citizens but do not address the UK leaving the EU. Citizenship is an individual right and it would be a betrayal of fundamental human rights to cancel EU citizenship without consent, although UK citizens should be able to relinquish EU citizenship.

Additional Information

Article 9 of the Treaty on European Union.
Article 20 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
Dual Citizenship is permitted under UK Law
