Abolish the 15 year cut off denying UK expats the right to vote as UK citizens

Petition Details

It only recently came to my notice that as an expat living in Italy, once I have lived for 15 years, which for me is next year,I will no longer be able to vote in General Elections as a UK citizen. Most other advanced democracies (and indeed in many so-called third - world countries).

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government has said that it does have plans to change this rule. It's therefore not clear what action you would like the Government to take that is different from what it is already doing.
