Guarantee the right of long-term UK-resident EU nationals to stay in the UK.
Following the EU referendum, statements have been made that the future right to remain in the UK of long-term resident EU nationals may be questioned. All parties must commit to protecting the right to remain of long-term residents without alteration or financial penalty.
Under EU freedom of movement, all citizens have been able to live and work in the UK without restriction. Many have lived, worked, raised families and paid taxes in the UK for many years, and are de-facto naturalised. It is wrong to bring their status into question in future negotiations, or to impose the requirement for application for citizenship.
