Re-instate the Department for Climate Change immediately.
Theresa May has acted to dismantle the Department for Energy & Climate Change. Yet this is the must urgent and universal issue facing any government.
This petition asserts that this decision should be reversed immediately and the DECC re-estabished as a matter of urgency.
- Climate Change is a universal concern effecting every single life form and as such deserves priority
- We cannot achieve commitments to CO2 reduction, the Paris Climate Agreement or the 2008 Climate Change Act without specifically committed resources.
- Dispersing the DECC's responsibilities between several departments destroys the possibility for cohesive thought and action on key issues
- Placing energy alongside business creates a bias and does not allow business interests to be challenged
