For bosses to send home construction workers if outside temperature exceeds 30C
I am a plumber and a lot of my work involves manual labour, a lot of heavy lifting and a lot of moving around, jumping in and out of a van, and also as health and safety does not allow us tradesman to wear shorts, I find it very uncomfortable and tiring, to work in temperatures over 30c!
I work for Phoenix community housing, we have all been going on at our bosses to allow us to wear shorts as we are all unable to concentrate due to the heat and it is unsafe especially having to work in people's properties to carry out work, I think there should be an allowance of up to 30c, as it can cause drowsiness and dehydration, our vans have no air con, and we have no supply of water, our vans are red hot and we have to drive to around 10 jobs a day in a van exceeding the outside temp!
