Petition Action

E-Petition could become a Joke!

Additional Information

It present E-Petitions are not mandatory and after reaching 100,000 votes the government and parliament can ignore them. As has happened to 2 votes so far.

I propose that the 100,000 vote become mandatory for parliament to debate and vote on it within the next session of parliament.

Also that after 250,000 votes it becomes mandatory for parliament to debate it within 4 weeks.

Also that after 1,000,000 votes it becomes mandatory to hold a referendum vote at the next national election, be that local government, national or Euro election.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
