Make the smoking of tobacco in a household with children under 18 an offense.
In England there is already a ban on smoking in a car with children under 18, however smoke can linger within rooms of a home for long periods of time, this and smoke residue that falls on food and surfaces can put children the most at risk of health problems as their lungs are not fully developed.
"It’s estimated that, every year, second-hand smoke kills over 12,000 people in the UK from lung cancer, heart disease, stroke and the lung disease Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)."
