Keep supporting nurse education through the present grant system
The government intends to remove grant funding for nurse education. The present, bare minimum support, is however not a grant. Student Nurses provide cover on wards at a rate less than an auxiary. As this cover is mandatory they cannot do other work. This discriminates against the less affluent.
The main reason for nurses leaving their training is financial

The number of nurses qualifying is in decline - please note they reliance on nurses coming form other countries, especially 2nd and 3rd world, is immoral as it deprives them of their brightest and best, and keeps them from developing.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
If you want NHS bursaries to be available for student nurses, you might like to sign this petition:
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131998
Alternatively, if you want maintenance grants to remain available for students in England, you might like to sign this petition:
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/128740
If you want these maintenance grants to be retained only for student nurses, we could accept a petition about that. As currently drafted, however, it isn't clear what you want the Government to do.
