Petition Details

Legislation regarding child welfare and guidelines social work departments work under are outdated. And leaving children vulnerable and at risk.. The law needs updating and quickly, specifically sections related to child abuse verbally abuse.

Additional Information

I am calling for the law on child neglect, written in 1933, to be overhauled to protect children from being badly fed, left alone at home, not educated or belittled and bullied by their parents.

The 1933 law requires that a child is physically harmed or injured before charges can be brought, yet child neglect is the most common form of maltreatment. It is suggested that around 1.5 million children are affected.
