Make Starbucks switch to recyclable cups.
2.5 billion cups are thrown away every year in U.K and only 1 in every 1000 of these is recycled. Coffee cups produced by the big chains are not made from recycled materials, nor are they recyclable because they are infused with polyethelene.
In a 2011 census, 11, 260, 336 people were recorded as commuting to London alone. Imagine that even half of those people grab a coffee on the go, and you begin to understand the cause of the mountain of coffee cups we are creating as a nation.
Coffee shops have offered half-hearted solutions in the form of selling expensive re-usable flasks which does not offer much incentive to many. It is time for the coffee giants to take responsibility and switch to recyclable cups.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government and Parliament can't require a single company to take this action. If you would like non-recyclable cups to be banned, you could start a new petition calling for that.
