Take fluffy bedding for hamsters off the shelves! It's dangerous!
In January 2016, I bought my first hamster & I now have 6! During this short time of owning hamsters I have observed posts on hamster forums regarding the dangers of fluffy bedding. This bedding can cause serious injury & even fatality to a hamster as a direct consequence of using it.
Respiratory issues - If this bedding enters the hamsters lungs it can cause infection. In many cases this isn't curable & will lead to death.
Blockages - If the hamster was to consume the bedding, and it is very possible, it can not be digested. This will lead to blockages within the hamsters system that can not be dislodge.
Limbs - The most common cause of injury regarding fluffy bedding is limb trapping. The bedding can trap the limbs within its fine strands resulting in amputation.
