Review Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs Widening Access claim process.

Petition Details

1000's of NHS Professionals have been waiting for over a year for the HMRC to process refund claims. The HMRC should be set specific timeframes to process claims. There is evidence of inconsistent information being given by the HMRC to claimants and this is totally unacceptable.

Additional Information

Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has stated that NHS employed staff also in full-time education are exempt from Tax and NI up to an annual allowance on earnings of £15,480, whilst in training, provided they meet certain criteria. Claims for refunds of tax and NI can be made for the period September 1999 to March 2013.

This process has not been advertised to NHS professionals. The HMRC has made and error collecting Tax/NI and should rightfully correct this with complete transparency.
