Make it illegal for the media to print lies
The media are continuously printing inaccurate and false facts, misleading the general public and making false accusations which in some cases can have a detrimental effect. This is both immoral and wrong and it should be illegal for the media to be allowed to get away with this.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We're not entirely sure what you're asking the Government to do. What the media can publish is already controlled by a number of industry specific regulators, for example, Ofcom and the Independent Press Standards Organisation. It is these regulators, not the Government or Parliament, which is responsible for maintaining reporting standards in the media. If there's a specific policy you want the Government to introduce, you might be able to start a new petition about that.
