Make it illegal for data companies to sell any personal data to any third party.
I receive in the region of 10-15 cold-calls every day. These calls cannot currently be blocked by BT and are only subject to Telephone Preference if made within the UK.
If these calls were being made within the UK, and assuming that the person receiving them has signed up to TPS, then the company making the call could be prosecuted, as could the company who sold the data, because they had not made the required checks against the TPS data base. Unfortunately, this does not apply to overseas call centres. However, if the companies that sell this data were closed down, eventually the problem would stop.
You can't sign this petition because it is now closed. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
