Petition Action

Put up TV licence by £1 so The Great British Bake Off stays on BBC with Mel&Sue.

Petition Details

National outrage as The Great British Bake Off is taken away from the BBC. Mel & Sue quit and the show will have adverts. This is not acceptable. The Great British Bake Off should be broadcast by the Great British Broadcasting Corporation. It needs to be saved for the nation.

Additional Information

Not required. Clearly the issue speaks for itself.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations, including the airing of specific TV programs.

However, you could start a petition for a general increase in the TV license amount.
