Petition Action

End Amplified Teleco Charges against poor and disadvantaged users.

Petition Details

The present industry wide (in effect) 'punitive' charging practices, are unjustifiable when using modern automated billing systems.

Additional Information

Where restricted quota charges are made over a period:-
(for example 30GB or 100 Free Minutes per month):-

1) UNUSED Phone Credit or Internet Usage Quotas, should be simply carried forward and optionally credited back to the user.

2) Fees for use ‘over quota’ or ‘extra minutes’ shall not in principle exceed basic rates.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Telephone companies are free within the law to decide the terms and conditions offered to customers, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could start a new petition to introduce a law requiring telephone companies to carry forward unused phone and internet credit, or to ensure that 'over quota' fees do not exceed basic rates.
