Stop the grammar school plans, every child deserves the best possible education.
Having worked with young people in deprived communities for over fifty years I can demonstrate that given the best opportunities many young people can achieve their full potential in academic and vocational terms: selection at eleven fails late developers and divides communities.Every child counts.
When children are inspired and motivated to achieve their full potential and to overcome barriers in terms of low expectations by adults, they often thrive. There is a wealth of talent in the lives of children from all backgrounds and we must not invest in a few out at the expense of the majority.
My MBE and career history will confirm these facts.
