Institutional lenient sentencing of Female criminals must be abolished

Petition Details

When it comes to imprisonment, Women on average are sentenced to custody less & serve less time for the same offence groups and thus are punished less severely than men.

This is not equality, this is systematic discrimination of both sexes by giving unequal treatment to Women than given to Men

Additional Information

Men serve longer in prison than Women for the same offence groups (in months):

Violence - 18.8 for Men, 12.7 for Women
Sexual offences - 30.3 for Men, 17.1 for Women
Possession of weapons - 15.1, 8.6

Men compared to Women in receipt immediate custodial sentences:

Violence - 44% to 21%
Theft - 29% to 17%
Fraud - 25% to 9%
