Ensure plastic food packaging, plates and cutlery are environmentally friendly.

Petition Details

France has passed a new law to ensure all plastic cups, cutlery and plates are compostable and made of biologically-sourced materials.
The UK should be making plans to implement similar plastics and packaging controls in order to tackle the growing problems of pollution and climate change.

Additional Information

By 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish (World Economic Forum). Nearly a third of all plastics leak into the environment where they end up eaten by wildlife or in floating rubbish dumps in the sea.
The British government needs to take some kind of definitive action against the use of plastics in our country, if we’re going to have any chance of mitigating the problem of waste in a growing global population.
