Ban/Cap letting fees for tenants moving into a property. Scotland already have!
Letting agents charge up to £750 in fees for administration that cost them £80 total. Consumers are being charged to consume. Credit checks should come prior to acceptance. Families cant move due to DEPOSIT+1 MONTH+ FEE. Landlords & Tenant charged for same things. Homeless + rent is rising.
Landlords are charged 10% of rent and prepping tenancy agreement. (AVG £2k) Tenants are being charged for admin, tenancy + check in (£450 AVG) Fees are being kept if credit checks fail. Amounts being charged are high and disproportionate to cost. 500% mark ups for services. Tenancy agreements are blank templates & almost universal. Renewals for £150? This is just money grabbing. Only one digit needs change. Credit checks are £20. Citizens Advice + Shelter now agree it is out of hand! Help us!
