Make HSE & Gas Safe investigate the failure of engineers to meet legal standards
A recent Which? investigation showed that engineers had failed to provide boiler servicing which is safe and meets legal minimum requirements for the job. Of the 6 'big companies' and 4 independent companies checked 70% failed to meet minimum legal requirements.
The Health and Safety Executive & Gas safe must be held to account and do their job to ensure Gas Safe registered engineers:
1} are competent to complete a full, safe boiler service, with regular checks on performance
2} have a legal minimum service time
3} complete a clear, detailed report
4} are held to account in the same way as other professions which potentially risk peoples lives
5} HSE & Gas Safe should complete random checks on standards of work & update the registration process.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Gas Safe is not a public body, so the Government and Parliament couldn't require it to take these actions. The HSE is a public body, but it is an independent regulator, so it is not directly controlled by the Government and Parliament.
You could start a new petition calling for the HSE to be given new powers or responsibilities by law.
