why are children financially disadvantaged beacuse parents remain married?

Additional Information

My children have had to work through 6th form to make ends meet when many of their friends have received £30 a week EMA because they live with just mum and the household income is low. Meanwhile dad can afford to buy them a car and live in his nice big house with his new family! Financial support for students looking to take further and highter education should either be available to ALL or based on PARENTAL income not household oncome.
