End the export of live farm animals in favour of a ‘carcass only’ trade.
The transport of live animals exported from the UK causes immense suffering. EU rules prevent us from introducing national welfare legislation to ban this trade.
With the vote to leave the EU appropriate legislation to end this unnecessary suffering should be a priority.
Long distance travel causes enormous suffering:
-overcrowding
-pain and stress
-compromised immunity
-inhumane slaughter on arrival
-loss of legal safeguards
SOURCE CIWF
During live transport there is a high risk of animal suffering:
-handling during loading and unloading
-strange sights sounds and animals
-heat stress and lack of water and rest
SOURCE RSPCA
Animals are crammed into unsuitable transport and endure gruelling journeys heading for conditions illegal in this country.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The UK has not yet left the EU. At the moment, the issue you raise is the governed by EU law, which is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. You could start a new petition calling on the UK Government to work with other EU member states to change the law.
Alternatively, you could start a petition asking the Government to make plans to introduce this legislation as soon as the UK has left the EU.
