Require the HCPC to accept registrations of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Recent incidents have highlighted the need for registration, not only to improve the status of an EMT but to reassure the public that they can trust the role of an EMT and when dealing with patients in ambulance situations.
Gary Page, 54 was misdiagnosed by an EMT employed by Private Ambulance Service Ltd. Due to the misdiagnosis and failure to treat the patient sadly passed away. We understand that mistakes happen but should we have registrations, measures can be taken and monitored including retraining, disciplinary action or removal from the register.
Registration will also aid in the protection of there term Emergency Medical Technician, preventing inadequately trained personnel from using the term.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The HCPC is an independent body. You could start a new petition calling on Parliament to change the law, to require anyone operating as an Emergency Medical Technician to have to register with the HCPC.
