Petition Action

Cancel High Speed Two (HS2) and spend the money on our NHS

Petition Details

The cost to build HS2 is currently estimated at £55.7 billion with many experts predicting the cost to be closer to £100 billion by the time the scheme is completed around 2033.

Our Accident and Emergency departments are woefully short of funding and personnel.

Additional Information

The latest report from the Care Quality Commission states that two thirds of A&E departments are overcrowded.

Several A&E departments have been closed recently, including the Children’s A&E at Ealing hospital and there are 240,000 people in Chorley that do not have an A&E department.

The UK has fewer beds in A&E per 1000 of population than any other equivalent EU Country and we do not have enough junior doctors.
