Make CPD complsory in the farriery industry.
It is the ONLY industry that CPD isnt complusory which increases risk of poor work- a farrier can qualify and then trim and shoe horses for 40-50 years without having to develop knowledge as science makes more discoveries of what is best for horses leaving customers with lame caused by poor shoeing
Increase in lameness due to change in horses activity without adjustment to shoeing due to farriers not having to attend CPD, horses are doing modern activities in shoes designed for horses moving in straight lines rather changing direction regularly which leads to more strain and concussion occurs which reduces the horses working life
Farriers can to buy and fit any shoe without going to appropiate courses to know how to fit the shoe to optimise the horses performance and wellbeing.
