National Service in place of compulsory education to 18
Raising the school leaving age to 18 is unproductive; it will force many young people who do not see the point of education to remain in an environment they have grown to hate, whilst many will have a great deal of practise disrupting the experience for those who do wish to learn.
Instead of this counter-productive law there should be a choice between remaining in education and taking a year of national service, military or community based, which would teach young people respect for their communities and country, and the self-discipline that so many young people today lack.
