Improve transparency of politcians' financial interests

Petition Details

1. Make it a crime to fail to declare interests.
2. Ban voting if they stand to gain financially.
3. Publish contracts for all outside jobs.
4. Make the Register Of Interests a spreadsheet (with company no's) & start regular audits.
5. Replace the Standards Commissioner with an independent body.

Additional Information

This petition covers both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This site is jointly owned by the House of Commons and the Government, so we cannot accept petitions about the standards system in the House of Lords.

In addition, we are not sure what some of your requests mean:

In point 4, we are not sure what you mean by "regular audits" of the Register of Members' Interests.

In point 5: the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is already an independent investigator. If you would like the Committee on Standards (which is made up of MPs and lay members) to be replaced by an independent body, you could start a petition asking for that.
