Enshrine the UKRI's long-term mission and Haldane principle in Royal Charter
The Higher Education and Research Bill 2016 will dissolve UK Research Councils' Royal Charters and form a super-council, UK Research & Innovation (UKRI), to act strategically across disciplines. The UKRI must aim to fund research for the UK's long-term good, at arm's length from day-to-day politics.
