Petition Action

debate penalty for using a mobile phone. tougher penalties are needed.

Petition Details

The planned increase in penalties for drivers caught using their mobile phones is still too lenient. Court appearance, drivers awareness course & immediate ban should be considered.

Additional Information

Everyday drivers still text, make calls & browse the net on phones in traffic & whilst moving, phone in their lap, or clearly on display.
Government - Consider the use of dash cam evidence from drivers who witness someone using their phone.
Driver awareness schemes to show the impact on victims lives. improved media campaign
The public STILL don't expect to be caught. Government plans are not deterring motorists. Something needs to change.
Do this for the families that have lost loved ones.
