Petition Action

Enforce assimilation by law on refugees/immigrants entering the U.K

Petition Details

The UK Government should make it clear that foreigners who want to live, work and stay in the UK have the right to religious freedom and personal attitudes, however they must adhere to British Law first before any other known law.
(e.g Sharia Law must not be considered higher than British Law).

Additional Information

Integration of individuals is vital for a community and country to thrive.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It is not clear what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take, since people in the UK are already required to comply with British law.

Sharia councils, like any other council or tribunal, must operate within British law. If any of the decisions or recommendations they make are contrary to national law (including the Equality Act 2010) then national law prevails.
