End the ban on flights between the UK and Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh resort.
The ban on flights between the UK and Sharm el-Sheikh airport after the downing of Metrojet Flight on 31October 2015.
The Foreign Office made clear that the resort of Sharm el Sheikh itself was deemed to be safe, but that British officials were not happy with security standards at the airport
Since then, Egypt has spent over £20m on improving airport security standards. Egyptian authorities worked closely with the Department of Transport, British security firms Control Risks and Restrata to implement a joint action plan to upgrade security in all Egypt airports. The airport has had a radical restructure to ensure that it complies with strict new standards set by the UK government. Yet, the UK is now the only country in Europe, that hasn’t lifted the ban on flights.
