Prevent companies from automatically opting us in to third party marketing.
When calling various service providers such as car insurance companies, housing insurance, mobile phone companies there is often a prerecorded massage at the start of the call stating that they will pass on your details to third party companies for marketing purposes, you need to ask to be opted out
Having spent 20 minutes online trying to get car insurance quotes and speaking to 1 company who had a similar pre recorded message that was unable to provide the required service I have been plagued by sales calls trying to sell me similar and unrelated products due to being automatically opted in.
This practice is wrong and parasitic, if companies want to sell or benefit from marketing your details they should be the ones asking, the burden to opt out should not be placed on the consumer.
