An independent body should check political statements and claims for accuracy.
The result of the referendum in June was infuenced by inaccurate claims and statements, and the electorate can only make an informed choice if they have accurate information on which to base that choice. There should be an independent body to check the accuracy of statements.
I believe that an independent body should be appointed to scrutinise statements made by politicians or organisations (eg "The EU costs Britain £350million per week"), to publish details of inaccurate statements, to fine or otherwise impose sanctions on politicians or organisations who make inaccurate statements, and to nullify any election or referenda result that is affected by such inaccurate statements.
