Make it a legal requirement to stop and report it if you run over a cat!
In the UK you are required by law to report it to the police if you run over a dog. However, a cat does not fall within the remit of the Road Traffic Act and therefore you do not need to report the incident.
If government made it law to report a cat it would give them the best chance at survival rather than suffering by the roadside and it would give the family peace of mind/closure.
Current laws reflect how undervalued cats are seen with the casual attitude we have to their welfare. The UK should set an example to others and future generations that it should be a moral imperative to respect other life forms and not leave them inhumanly in excruciating pain by the roadside
