Petition Action

Non English speaking nurses in the NHS

Additional Information

We allow foreign nurses to care for vulnerable, scared patients and these nurses struggle to understand English? Strict EU rules mean that the NMC is banned from carrying out any checks on their English or competence as this is deemed to restrict the free movement of labour. Other countries get round this and do not allow this to happen! What has happened to our Country? About time we all stood together to get this stopped now! Would the Government allow their families to be mistreated in hospital this way?
I want the Government to start vetting these nurses properly and to ensure that they speak enough English to do the job properly and not put any patient at risk.
