Ask the 8 richest UK citizens with the Queen to pay for Buckingham Palace
The repairs required to make Buckingham Palace safe have been quoted at £369m. Whilst a small amount in the scheme of the overall UK budget, it is obscene that the taxpayer should fund this at the same time as cuts to essential public services.
According to the Sunday Times Rich List 2016 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunday_Times_Rich_List_2016 - the richest eight UK citizens domiciled in the UK have combined personal wealths of £65.45bn. Parliament should ask them, together with the Queen herself, to help fund the refurbishment instead as a gesture of goodwill to the nation, demonstrating a commitment that we really are all in this together.
