Prevention of unwanted telemarketing calls

Additional Information

We call upon the UK government to pass legislation requiring telecommunications service providers operating in the UK to make available to their subscribers free of charge services that automatically block calls that meet any of the following criteria:

1. Calls that originate from any source that withhold their calling number identity.

2. Calls that originate from any source for which the calling number identity cannot be obtained.

3. Calls from any number that present a calling line identity that is not a valid UK line.

4. Calls from any number that present a calling line identity that incurs call charges when dialled.

5. Calls that originate from any number that match a block-numbering pattern specified by the called subscriber (numbers beginning with a prefixed number sequence).
