Petition Action

Do not make injured employees pay for the right to pursue a negligent employer

Petition Details

The government proposal includes :
1.Increase the small claims track for all injury claims to £5000
Despite being portrayed as "whiplash" reforms the government intends to apply it to all claims leaving employees to pursue employers without legal assistance.

Additional Information

The reforms are portrayed as "whiplash" reforms but the government has misled the public in both the Autumn statement of 2015 and again in 2016 by referring to them as "whiplash" reforms.
In the small print of the consultation document the government clearly states that its preference is to ensure this increase applies to all claims in the hope it will prevent claims being pursued against employers. This is not access to justice.Claims under £5000 can include serious injuries i.e fractured wrist
